Description
Dear San Francisco Tlingit and Haida Citizens,
It’s hard to believe our traditional foods culture camp is already almost here–this Saturday and Sunday, May 2nd and May 3rd from 10-5pm.
We are looking forward to being in community with you next week at for “Íitl’ táawaay ngíisdlaang — Our Traditional Foods Are Healing” to come together to learn and do Traditional Seal Processing.
We are honored to have George Nix, Food Security Manager in Kasaan, AK join us as instructor and culture bearer, as well as our Ravenstail teacher Angela Hoppe and elders Rachel and Jeff Nickerson.
Our community has been working with passion and dedication to bring this experience to our urban youth and families. From Alaska to California, all of our relatives have pitched in to bring this experience together with love and care. We hope every youth who attends will feel fully how much their culture and community believe in them and care for them, and that they feel connected to who they are and the strength of their ancestors and traditions that hold them up.
Let us gather, learn, and lift each other up through our traditions.
