San Francisco Tlingit & Haida Youth Ambassador 2025-2026 Application Now Open!

Exciting news! Starting today, March 11th, we are accepting applications for the San Francisco Tlingit & Haida Youth Ambassador (YA) 2025-2026. The application period will remain open until March 28th, with the final selection announced on April 2nd.

The Youth Ambassador serves a one-year term, beginning at the annual Tribal Assembly in April. The selected YA will attend the Tribal Assembly, seated with the San Francisco delegation.

Throughout the year, the YA will:
โœ” Attend meetings
โœ” Volunteer at various SF T&H Chapter events
โœ” Represent and support the San Francisco Tlingit & Haida community

Many of our past YAs have gone on to serve as Emerging Leaders on the T&H Executive Council or as delegates.

SFTH Community Constitution Amendment https://sfthcc.org/news/2024/sfth-community-constitution-amendment Sun, 07 Jan 2024 21:44:31 +0000 https://sfthcc.org/?p=2149 The SFTHC Council approved the amendment proposed to the Community Constitution in its June 11, 2023 meeting by Resolution 23-01.

The Amendment improves and simplifies the Community Constitution.

A letter from the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaskaโ€™s Program Compliance Department dated December 22, 2023 is sent to all Community voters with instructions on electronic voting for the Constitution Amendment, which votes must be cast by January 24, 2024. The letter includes a link to the Central Council webpage with the Amendment information, and the number to call to request a paper copy of the information via US mail.

Small Business Relief https://sfthcc.org/news/2023/small-business-relief Tue, 01 Aug 2023 14:35:39 +0000 https://sfthcc.org/?p=2071 Tlingit & Haida has allocated $50,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to provide additional relief to tribal citizen-owned small businesses who are on Tlingit & Haidaโ€™s official voting list for the community of San Francisco and have been impacted by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Under the San Francisco Supplemental Small Business Relief program, tribal citizens who are at least 50% owner of a small business can apply for one-time financial assistance to receive a reimbursement of up to $5,000 for eligible business expenses or costs incurred due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Only one application per business will be accepted.

Funds must be expended in compliance with federal law and only those eligible expenses incurred after January 1, 2023 or reasonably expected to be incurred by December 29, 2023 are eligible. Applicants are required to follow the Purpose of Funds guidelines in the application.

Documented expenses previously used to apply for and receive relief assistance from another ARPA program are not eligible. All applicants will be contacted for assistance with any missing documents and to provide guidance during the application review.

Applications will be closed after 30 days of no response from applicant.

The community burial fund provides $1,000 per qualified citizen.

Eligibility

  • Applicant or Deceased must be enrolled in T&H and have San Francisco as their current voting community.
  • San Francisco resident and non-resident tribal citizens are eligible to apply.
  • $1,000 per qualified citizen/up to 10 applications total.
  • โ€˜Date of Deathโ€™ must be on or after March 11, 2021.
  • Authorized applicant must provide verification of death (death certificate)
  • Must be 18 or older to apply for funding; exceptions may apply.
  • One application per deceased citizen.
